COVENANT COVER UNDER MARRIAGE AND JOINT PREPARATION |

We teach about the covenant of marriage on our Godly Sexuality pages and how families can be blessed through this divine provision of our God. However, it is a very sad fact that we often lose out spiritually because we are too engrossed in meeting our material needs to spend time with God, individually, as couples and whole families. It has been estimated that only 10% of married Christian couples pray together, spend time together over God's Word and pray with their children. We can gather from this that praying for children is also a low priority in our daily living. Some fellowships and churches organise teaching on practical parenting skills but totally ignore the discipleship needs of parents in spiritual parenting skills. It is in this area that we need to readjust our priorities if we are serious in our faith and commitment to our own and family discipleship walk with Jesus. If we are a family which is already one of the few that leads in this area, could we share our own experiences with others, supported by prayers? |

(Colossians 2:2 NIV) My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, (Colossians 2:3 NIV) in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. |

Since God made husband and wife one in one body (Matthew 19:4 NIV) "Haven't you read," he replied, (Jesus) "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,' (Mat 19:5 NIV) and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? (Mat 19:6 NIV) So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate." Is it not the ideal and most beautiful thing and natural thing for them to speak to God together in prayer? Today we witness Christian families robbed of their heritage by the enemy, and so thoroughly robbed they do not know what they are missing in divine resources. Resources that would bless, nurture and protect what they would hold most dear, their children, and these children, would grow to be children of covenant blessing. |

(James 5:16 NIV) Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. |

Preparation for spiritual parenting could include a joint approach by both husband and wife in prayer before the Throne of Grace of a loving heavenly Father God, who wants to bless all His children who come to Him. Be warned (The enemy will put every obstacle in the way to obstruct this purpose) (Hebrews 10:36 NIV) You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. |

Marriage and family life is under attack from all directions in this age. It is all part of the evil one's plan to usurp and destroy all that is precious in the Father heart of God for His children. It is the responsibility of all who know the truth about Godly sexuality and God's purpose for men and women, to stand firm, especially in teaching their children, and by being living examples of this truth. Sexual sin by either partner plays a major part in destroying many marriages, and Christian marriages are not exempt in this respect. The consequences too are shared, not only for the immediate family but they also bring problems for future offspring. If sexual sin has occurred in your family read our teaching on dealing with it. |
