THE CONSEQUENCES OF CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE: SPIRITUAL BROKENESS , WITH DEEP PSYCHOLOGICAL AND EMOTIONAL DAMAGE
(Isaiah 8:15 NIV) Many of them will stumble; they will fall and be broken, they will be snared and captured." (Isaiah 8:16 NIV) Bind up the testimony and seal up the law among my disciples. (Isaiah 61:1 NIV) The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, (Isaiah 61:2 NIV) to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, (Isaiah 61:3 NIV) and provide for those who grieve in Zion-- to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendour.
The wonderful words that tell of the coming of Jesus in the Old Testament, echo the message of hope to those lambs of His who fall victim to the scourge of child sexual abuse.
We will describe the hurt, the pain, the damage, the despair and the hopelessness overwhelming the child victim, often in the body of the young adult.
We also know, and will share the reality of the love Jesus that can bring deliverance, freedom, cleansing, healing and full restoration of all that belong to the little child. To be wrapped in arms of the pure untarnished love of Jesus Christ, in a new sense of hope, security and peace this brings.
Every child is a potential victim of Child sexual abuse. One in four children are likely to be subjected to some degree of abuse.
It is unlikely that the abuse will be perpetrated by a stranger. Most abusers are family related, family friends, neighbours or somebody who is "trusted" and caring for them
Sexual abuse may at first involve touching and fondling but progressively escalates to more serious abuse involving the child in a full range of perverted activities. The child may be exposed to child pornography in photographs, videos and computer images. Children may be used to produce pornographic material. This may be gradually introduced after the prelude of undressing and posing has become the routine in the abusive situation. The child may have quite strong reservations and inhibitions about the activities, but the abuser uses a variety of inducements to get what they want and these feelings in the child are repressed and buried. This will give rise to other feelings in the child, that are also repressed and buried, but will surface later to cause havoc in the older teen or young adult life. It is a this point that the unclean spirits associated with this type of evil may influence and apply control.
