PAEDOPHILIA

THE ABUSE VICTIMS SLIDE TOWARDSDISINTEGRATION AND SUICIDE

Children are naturally trusting and force is rarely used to engage a child in sexual activities and often they are dependant on the abuser anyway. Children want to please to gain love and approval. It is rare for a child to question authority and generally believe all adults are right. It is this that allows the perpetrator in sexual abuse to start the abuse and then use other ploys to establish that the activities remain a secret from other adults and friends.

Sexual abuse is an abuse of power over a child. It is also a violation of a child's right to normal, healthy, trusting relationships.

General behaviour signs may indicate the possibility of sexual abuse.
