Understanding God's own truth

(Ephesians 6:12 )  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
(1 Thessalonians 5:23 )  May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

In Ephesians 6 we have a clear picture of why evil, such as Paedophilia, child murder and sexual crimes can be so rampant in the society we live.Paul exposes the powers of this dark world and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm

Notice too, in Thessalonians, how Paul describes you as a being of God's creative order.
In the order of importance he lists your spirit, soul and body as you. Your soul is your mind, will and emotions which are those invisible parts of you, most closely related to your spirit.

Man places his body first, then his soul and spirit as the least important. This is a lie of the enemy Satan. Man is essentially a spirit being in a flesh body.

Is the devil real?

(Matthew 13:37 )  He (Jesus) answered, "The one who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man.
(Matthew 13:38 )  The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one,
(Matthew 13:39)  and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels.
(Matthew 25:41)  "Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

Jesus knew the devil who tempted Him personally, and He also knew him as the spiritual leader of the rebellion against His Father God. In Matthew 25:41 Jesus predicts the eternal demise of the devil together with all his followers in the lake of eternal fire.

How effective can the devil be in influencing our lives?

Luke 8:9 )  His disciples asked him what this parable meant.
(Luke 8:10 )  He said, "The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that, "'though seeing, they may not see; though hearing, they may not understand.'
(Luke 8:11)  "This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God.
(Luke 8:12 )  Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved.

The devil is a spirit being therefore he must influence us through our spirit, to our minds and will. He steals by taking away what God would have in our hearts.

Jesus tells of the of the power of the devil over disobedient man, who accept his false authority and lies.

(John 8:44 ) Jesus said " You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies".

A Glorified and victorious resurrected Jesus firmly re-establishes in His disciples the authority and power to influence, not only things on earth, but in the spiritual realm too.

(Mat 16:19)  I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."
(Mat 18:18 )  "I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
(Mat 18:19 )  "Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.

As spirit beings in flesh, either as born again disciples living in Jesus, or as those who have not taken this step of faith, all that we do has influence in the spiritual realms for good,  or for evil.
So too have all the spiritual beings in the spiritual realm a capacity to influence our earthly world, to bring blessings for our Godliness or curses for our ungodliness
