SPIRITUAL PARENTING IN THE NATURAL WORLD (5)

PRAYER AND SPIRITUAL PARENTING

There are many excellent books available for parents who want to learn more about praying for children. As a help towards this we will suggest  a list of  recommended authors and books,  that will help in this vital parenting role.

In this teaching however, we look at the many aspects of prayer, in an effort to increase our knowledge, and broaden our understanding, of the full breadth of God's provision for  praying parents.

THE BROAD SPECTUM AND POWER OF PRAYER

DIRECTLY NURTURING YOUR CHILD SPIRITUALLY
FOR THE WELL  BEING OF THE SOUL. (MIND, WILL AND  EMOTIONS) , PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT AND HEALTH GENERALLY.

PRAYING OVER YOUR CHILD,
IN ALL AREAS OF NEEDS AND PROTECTION.

INTERCESSION OR( STANDING IN THE GAP)
SEEKING THAT GOD'S PURPOSES AND WILL FOR YOUR CHILD, WILL PROSPER, IN THE FACE OF ALL DIFFICULTIES, AND ENEMY ACTIVITY IN THE SPIRITUAL REALMS.

IN THE LIGHT AND POWER OF GOD'S WORD,
DEFEND, PROTECT AND BE PERSONALLY
EMPOWERED TO DEAL WITH  UNGODLY ACTIVITY  AFFECTING THE CHILD, WITH THE AUTHORITY OF JESUS NAME AND THE POWER OF HIS BLOOD.

(Philippians 4:6 NIV)  Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
(Philippians 4:7 NIV)  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

WHAT IS SPIRITUAL NURTURE?

Spiritual nurturing of your child is an ongoing part of parenting, and you should aim to make it so, because in truth, children are by their very nature very spiritual beings. You need to tap into this vitality they display when they are young, leading by example, sharing and encouraging their ideas and creativity. Let them open up to you and marvel at what they can shine into your inner self by their ideas and honesty. As we look into practical parenting skills on listening and also watching, later in our teaching, reflect on this aspect .
The human spirit is eternal. It is present at conception and departs the body at death. The human spirit does not sleep, it is aware and receptive whilst the physical body is resting.

Between you and your child are Godly spiritual ties which are used as channels of  Godly blessings, and it is possible for you to nurture the child's human spirit by your spirit, whilst the child is sleeping. This could be part of your  prayer and intercession pattern that we will cover later.

To those parents who have grasped this truth and opened the channels of blessings between their child and themselves, have discovered a new richness and fullness within the life of the family unit and this child.

Even more so, is the enriched countenance of the new child, and his family  relationship when spiritual nurturing starts at conception. This is when a human life starts and not, as is often taught, well into the pregnancy. Again if you pray for your child before conception this reinforces what the Bible teaches on the uniqueness of each person that God creates.  He honours what He teaches and our obedience.

(Psalm 139:15 NIV)  My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,
(Psalm 139:16 NIV)  your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
(Psalm 139:17 NIV)  How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!

The channel of spiritual nurturing is love. It is in love that the child feels wanted, accepted, valued for who he is, just as God values us. It is in love and security that the child feels able to truly express himself and to develop God's gifts of creativity. Love is a spiritual attribute because (1 John 4:8 NIV)  Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. What a wonderful God we have.
Let us share Him in and through our children, His blessing to us.
